Hello! I’m Violet, and I am a counseling intern with Ritual Wellness ATX supervised by Dr. Kruti Patel. I strive to wholeheartedly understand and empower my clients with their healing and exploration of themselves; I’d be honored to support you through this process.

My Approach to Therapy

Overall, I believe healing happens within the contexts of our relationships—with ourselves and others. My approach to counseling incorporates this by focusing on interpersonal and person-centered therapies. In addition, my model also involves mindfulness, strengths-based approaches, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance & commitment therapy, feminist theory, narrative therapy, sex therapy, and multicultural humility. I believe the therapeutic process should be tailored to each unique individual, based on what a person is needing in that moment; I look forward to exploring what would best work with you and your healing!

In addition to my model, I believe in taking a social justice approach through counseling. Outside of a person’s childhood and relational environment, there are larger outside forces that shape our well-being—societal constraints, binaries and current events are all part of those forces that deeply affect us. Incorporating social justice into my practice is done by ensuring my clients have their voices heard, their goals addressed, and their healing made a priority within the context of their own cultural identity, background and experiences. I’m committed to being open and learning how my clients see themselves, their world, and their therapeutic journey within these societal and cultural factors.

Areas of Interest

I’m LGBTQIA+ allied and committed to anti-racism in all the work I do. I am also trauma-informed in all counseling interactions I conduct. I work with older teens (16+ years old) and adults. My areas of interest are listed as follows:

  • Women’s issues (i.e. reproductive mental health, young motherhood, post-partum issues)

  • Interpersonal and relational concerns

  • Emotional intimacy/vulnerability concerns

  • Sexual health & wellbeing

  • Grief & loss

  • Life transitions

  • Trauma and Shame/Guilt

  • Anxiety & depression

  • Self-acceptance/self-esteem issues

  • Identity exploration

  • Domestic/intimate partner violence

Who I Am

While getting my bachelor’s in English and Creative Writing at the University of Texas (UT) here in Austin, I volunteered with SAFE Alliance shelter for sexual abuse and domestic violence, crisis counseled through the Crisis Text Line, and participated in psychology research labs and outside courses—thus solidifying my passion for counseling. In the first year of my master’s in counseling, I interned with UT’s Student Emergency Services. Now, I’m in the final year of my master’s working towards a license in professional counseling.

Outside of my clinical work and studies, I still love classic/contemporary literature and writing fiction on the side! I spend most of my time visiting with loved ones, roller-skating, attending concerts and shows, learning interesting facts & history, and trying new breakfast/coffee spots.
