Agency Mission
Ritual Wellness ATX is a women-owned, trauma-informed, and social justice informed group practice in Austin, TX. We strive to provide individual and collective healing for our community through high-quality, culturally sensitive, and person-centered mental health services and training.
Training Program Aim
Our program trains postdocs to provide collaborative, integrated care with an emphasis on culturally appropriate and social justice oriented interventions. Our program entails clinical work with diverse client populations in a group practice setting. Trainees will manage a psychotherapy caseload. One-on-one supervision and training will support the trainee as he/she/they navigate the working with clients in a manner which centers social justice. Our practice focuses on collaborative, integrated care with an emphasis on culturally appropriate and social justice oriented care.
Training Program Description
A typical weekly schedule for a practicum trainee includes:
Maximum 12 hours per week:
2 hours per week for supervision
1 hour to review/process recorded parts of weekly sessions and 1 hour for support/didactic training.
1 hour for documentation
1 hour for training. Topics may include but are not limited to:
Telehealth trainings
how to provide telehealth in ethical manner and HIPPA
logistics of telehealth (basic technology needed)
licensure and interjurisdictional
Clinical interventions via telehealth - how to assess for risk, etc.
Couples Training
Trauma Basics - how looks like in room; how to be trauma-informed
Family Therapy - genograms
Basics of providing culturally sensitive care
Working with Immigrants, Refugees and Undocumented Persons
Experiential/Emotion-Focused Interventions
Professional Identity and Case Conceptualization
Alliance Building and Treatment Intervention
Optional: Group case consultation meeting every other Monday at 2pm
Optional: Monthly Social Justice meeting 1x a month on Monday at 3pm
All services, in-person and telehealth, will be conducted in our office (11614 Bee Caves Road, Suite 270, Austin, TX 78738)
1 out of total client load will be telehealth; 1 out of 8 (maximum)
*Trainees will need to use their own laptop to document sessions and conduct telehealth sessions
Types of clients:
individual clients, adults, generally presenting with the following but not limited to: anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, adjustment, identity development, and grief. Cases will be screened by the Training Director and/or supervisor; complex cases will be referred to senior clinicians.
*No evenings or weekend hours
Supervisory Plan:
Supervisors will mainly draw from the integrative models of supervision, including but not limited developmental supervision model, person-centered supervision, feminist model of supervision
Policy for Trainees:
In onboarding/first supervision session (before see any clients), trainee will be informed of risk assessment basics and when to bring in the supervisor.
Should any risk be detected in a session, trainees will be directed to bring in supervisor and leave the door open; supervisor will join the session with the trainee - assess the person and help create the safety plan
